Running

It seems like I am just one among many who feel like they are running their head off this summer.

When we are not running. ..
we can't think because we are still thinking about running around.

Then. .
we are too tired to sleep and can't unwind because we are still thinking about what running we will do tomorrow.
(even grands seem to have this problem)

The important thing though.  .
is that we are running to the things that bring us ultimate contentment and joy.

Apparently ..
I've been told that running your head off ..
can possibly be the best fun ...
most recently discovered.

The only difference between them and their grammie is. .
I don't run anymore in the evening . .
once my jammies are on.
(okay ..and they smile more when the run)

all for now . .

the great white moler

The best gifts are always the one of a kind home made creations.

Linda. ..our friend and sharer of grands. . .
is the most creative and artistic person I know. .
hands down.
She has the ability to watch someone and then come up with a device. .or packet of treasures. .or in this case. .a trophy which not only makes you laugh. .
it is curiously accurate.

I'm not going to bother explaining this trophy to you.
Suffice to say ..
that my beloved has a thing about moles on his manicured farm yard.

Only he. .
keeps a running tally of the offensive little fellows who make brown lumps of dirt on his lawn. .
and field.

A good amount of thought goes into the capturing of these little fellows and everyone who knows my beloved personally has heard of his tales of accomplishment at his craft.

It makes him happy when the moles and him understand one another. .
as you can plainly see.

all for now. .

the labor burger

I've heard of expectant fathers calling  for food during the labor.
Terrence preempted that need with a meal that would get him through several days of labor.
By the next morning Little Oh. . had arrived and  I was fixing up a batch of celebratory Berry Filled Scones to bring to the hospital.
Someday. . .his boys will order outrageous meals and he'll be the one shaking his head.
I've documented this here ...to remind him later. .
smiling while I write.

all for now. .

Welcoming Baby Oh.....!

It seems. ..
that every July I announce a new grand on the blog.
Just to be sure I would be ready for another announcement. .
I prepared a new blankie on the first weekend of July while we were relaxing on vacation.

On his Grandpa's birthday. . .
he arrived.

At nine pounds . . and nine ounces he came sturdy enough to be the third child in the family.

When the children saw him . .
it was love at first sight.

He took being held by chubby arms. .
in stride.

He yawned and blinked. . .
and smelled brand new!

Every Grammie thinks her family is beautiful. . .
and I am like all the other grammies out there.

Welcome to the family darling baby boy.

You have been given your Great Grandpa's name to carry through your life. . .
and I know he would have been very honoured to have a wee grand named after him.

For blog purposes. .
we are going to call you "Little Oh. . ."

raspberry season

Each tiny little section of raspberry bursts full of flavour buds.
Who needs the fake packets of flavouring when the real thing is hanging ripe on the bushes?
One of my favorite appetizers is Hot Red Pepper Jelly on Cream Cheese on a fresh crisp light cracker.

I added in some raspberries this year to add a little spunk.
We stood and waited for the jelly to set. .
checking now and then. . .
and as soon as it cooled.  . .
we tested. .
cream cheese . .
crackers. .
and raspberry red pepper jelly.

Check Mennonite Girls Can Cook today. .
and get your little Christmas hostess gifts finished this week.

all for now. . .

shiny ruby red cherries

We planted this cherry tree last fall.
We ran out to the "orchard" this spring to see if the new tree had flowered.
It had.

Then a week or so later. .
we ran back out to see if the flowers had been pollinated. .
they had.

Then. ...
every week after that ..
we nonchalantly walked past the tree. .
trying not to rush it ..
nor make it feel like it was being watched.

Last week ..
we licked our lips.  ..
and kept walking.

On Monday ..
when grandgirlie walked past the tree ..
she noticed the shiny ruby red cherries and plucked one off the stem . .
and popped it in her mouth.
We smiled.

Being naturally quite selfish. .
we distracted her with the search for the baby field bunnies. .
and today . .
the two of us. .
will return to the tree. .
and  pluck the cherries and eat them .

all for now . .

Tilling the Soil Tuesday

If you can't eat your dinner because you have been snacking on freshly pulled carrots all afternoon. .
you can still have dessert at Grammies house.

Just saying.

One of the pictures I had in my mind when we planted the garden in May was pretty much exactly as you see.

We are learning as we go.
It's been so long since we had our own garden and now we can't imagine being without the pleasures it has provided both culinary and the peaceful feeling we enjoy while we poke around it.

Do you remember what a carrot tastes like right after it has been hosed off?

We also enjoyed a round of beets with our dinner.
We just planted another row of beets yesterday. . .
as the first row is looking rather short.

Little Miss Muffet Turns One

Over the weekend. .
we celebrated the accomplishment of Little Miss Muffet's First Year.

It occurred to me. .
that only when you are very young. .
or very much in the winter period of your life. .
do you not realize. .
you are the center of attention.

It is only then. .
that you can fully enjoy being center of attention.

OH. .it was a wonderful Saturday afternoon affair.
The table was set with goodies enjoyed by all.

Since the weather did not have a proper appreciation for the event ..
we were scattered in and out, under the covered deck and announcements and the blessing were said centrally for all to hear.

This baby girl has gone from zero to one much quicker than the previous three grands.
She quietly goes about her duty as little sister and baby cousin.

While her older cousins and ( sister  who apparently was not yet seated)
partied at the "big" table . ..
she sat in her chair which provided a vantage point above the festivities.

Once she was finished. .
she did a walk about. . .

saying hello to her guests .. .
who were all happy to offer her smiles.

Happy 1st Birthday Little Miss Muffet.
You are a little sweet dolly.

kanneloni macaroni turns two

Happy Birthday darling Kanneloni Macaroni.
You make turning two look like the best thing ever!

We celebrated her birthday on the weekend when the weather was cooperative.

The pool was filled with warm water . . happy children. .
amd lots of dads and moms.

The gazebo was set up with all the essentials.
She smiled all evening long . . .
.. .and made us smile too.

Elmo and Big Bird were happy they were included too.
May you continue to grow strong and healthy  KM.
May your heart remain filled with joy!

with love .. .
