If you can't eat your dinner because you have been snacking on freshly pulled carrots all afternoon. .
you can still have dessert at Grammies house.
Just saying.
One of the pictures I had in my mind when we planted the garden in May was pretty much exactly as you see.
We are learning as we go.
It's been so long since we had our own garden and now we can't imagine being without the pleasures it has provided both culinary and the peaceful feeling we enjoy while we poke around it.
Do you remember what a carrot tastes like right after it has been hosed off?
We also enjoyed a round of beets with our dinner.
We just planted another row of beets yesterday. . .
as the first row is looking rather short.
Not only is your garden growing, the granddaughters are as well. My goodness, how tall the older sister is getting! She's obviously been eating her carrots. What a lot of great farmhands you have!
ReplyDeleteLooks like a future farmer to me, cute picture. Richard from Amish Stories.
ReplyDeleteYour garden looks wonderful. Glad the grands are helping with the harvest!
ReplyDeleteWe were served fresh beets with our dinner at Earl's last week. So good. I'm looking forward to enjoying beets from our garden...soon.
Oh, such a precious granddaughter.
ReplyDeleteSeeing your garden really makes me miss not having one this year!
It is so rewarding to grow and eat your own food. So glad yours is florishing!
I love your garden -- it's so lovely! Bravo Grammie! Oh the memories those little ones will have of you & your glorious garden. I know. I'm nearly 50 & the memories I have of my Papaw & I in his garden are some of the most precious to me! :)

ReplyDeleteEverything in our garden is sloooow to come. We're eating lettuce and radishes but not much else yet.
ReplyDeleteThe picture is worth every bit of weeding isn't it?
How is it possible that the little ones have grown up so quickly?
ReplyDeleteBeautiful garden, Lovella, and the plants look lovely, too!
Fun times in the garden! What a treat to eat the bounty.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad the picture turned out just like you imagined! I'm still enjoying the front row seat. Pass me a carrot, please.
ReplyDeleteLittle girls with pigtails!! And baby curls - some of my favourite things - along with gardens and new beets!!
ReplyDeletePure delight!
ReplyDeleteI especially love the picture of your granddaughter driving away in the mini-tractor. Those will be the best tasting beets ever!
