Pot Holder Project

A few weeks ago I found a package in the mail for my birthday.
Enclosed was a pair of tea towel Pot Holders.
I was amazed at the crafty smart idea and promptly called to say thank you and ask about the beginnings of the idea.

It turns out she had seen a tutorial on Vee's blog .. where Vee had posted the potholder she had made for her sister. I ran down and picked up a few three packs of tea towels like the pot holder I received.

Like my gift giver said to me. .
the hardest part is cutting squares.

She was right of course.
The squares were cut . .
a square of heat resistant fabric placed in between . .
and sewn together ..
lickety split.
The tea towels were not quite long enough to make three even pairs ..
so I made one small pot holder to use as a trivet . .
waste not ..want not.

I think I'll make a few more . .
such gifts are welcomed by anyone who loves to cook.
So . .keep your eyes out for tea towels on sale. . .
All for now. . .

  2. They're so much fun to make, aren't they? Well the turning them out is fun...the cutting of squares not so much. I love the idea of tea towels being used in the fabrics. A great way to get all coordinated!

  5. AHHH! Now I know what you were talking about when you bought the tea towels. Your friend was so sweet to you...and now you have fun gifts to give too. I watched the video on Vee's blog and I will be running out to get what I need to whip up several sets. i have a plan for all my Easter guests. I need at least 6 sets. I'm glad it is raining out...I have a project to start:) Kathy (MGCC)

  6. Are you sure that little pot holder isn't for your future kitchen helper Grandgirlie or KM to use? Lil Farm Hand might want to get in to the action too.

(I have a child sized mitt stored away just in case...)

  8. Again... I'm totally impressed that some of you can just look at them and then go and make them. They look great. Where can I buy them? =)

  10. What a neat idea !
Isn't it the idea itself that is often the illusive thing? Some gifted person come up with it and the copy cat part follows!
You did a great job, Lovella! anyone would be happy with such a beautiful, yet practical gift!

  13. Maybe...if I invited you for dinner, you might bring me one of your perfectly created pot holders. My mother would be so happy, since she at times suggests that maybe I would buy some new ones, due to the years of wear and tear on mine. I really like these. Too bad I don't have a sewing machine. Nice job ladies!
