When I was little, we would go to church as we regularly did, but then we would stay for a lunch and have a praise service in the afternoon. On the holiday Monday it was our tradition to climb the mountain at the end of our road and trudge through the Girl Guides camp and wind our way to the top to enjoy a wiener roast
. As our parents aged, it changed to a drive up the mountain so that we could crunch through some leaves and build a fire and roast some wieners. In the last few years my extended family will find one nice crisp evening to make a bonfire and call us together for a wiener roast.
This year we feel blessed to have a family dinner including Mom (Terry's mom), Rik and Brenda and our children.

I had not realized that in Canada the symbol of Thanksgiving Day is the weiner. We in the USA always had to draw pictures of turkeys in school when we were talking about Thanksgiving Day. It sure would have been a lot easier to just draw weiners.
ReplyDeleteSigh.
One more thing for you all to be thankful for.
By the by...I am thankful for you and other Canadian blogger friends!
