November 2018

Ohmyohmy!

Super late again but I'm going to make November quick so we can talk about December very soon.

The girls and I went into Vancouver to see the Nutcracker at Queen Elizabeth Theatre.

I pointed out that the results of the ice storm we had in January still hadn't produced any crafts and so he went straight to work and chopped my up some tea light holders for our Christmas décor.

This dear girl has turned 11!  She is becoming sweeter as the years go by.
She has a tender heart, a creative mind and a beautiful spirit.

We puzzled some as the nights got darker quicker.

I enlisted the help of bakers whenever I had the chance.

The twenty year old tree fort finally came down with a bit of help.

I sadly missed the kaboom.

It made me happy to see blue skies!

What happens when you give a moose a muffin?

The kids spent a weekend here while their parents had some well deserved date nights.

She is amazing already with cookie decorating.
Her patience is quite something to behold.

This is how I do it. ;)

On the last day of November we went to the school to check out the ancestry
project.   It seems that she has begun to grasp her roots. I've been reminded more than a few times that I am Russian. Well.... she says, if your parents were born there and their parents were born there then you must be Russian.  Hmm... I guess she has a point. Everywhere we come from leaves an imprint on who we become.    Our families  brought lots of Russian flavours with them to Canada.
We are immigrants, that is for sure!

Maybe my goal for 2019 will be to do a ancestry test to answer that question for sure.

    1. Yes she is! It's quite easy once you get the hang of it. I watched lots of youtube videos to get the idea of how the batter should look. Keep trying Angharad!

  3. A fun recap. Do let us know what the ancestry test says. All of my grandparents were born in Russia, too, from Dutch and Prussian roots.

  8. Goodness! I am terribly-erribly late myself! Always love your beautiful photography and seeing the grands growing up so fast. Why...two of them are getting their antlers! Fun also to see how much influence you have on them as they are quite experienced in the kitchen. Looking forward to December...
