We were privileged to be invited by Richard and Dorothy
to participate in showing appreciation to the Northview Pastors and their spouses again this last weekend.
We arrive on Sunday after lunch and by that time...
they have purchased all the groceries and Lois (their go-to florist) has beautiful flowers arranged and the tables just need to be set which our guys do with a kind of Downton Abby perfection.
Those of us in the kitchen watch each other cut and chop...
peel and roll...
and ...
think about all the menus we have served over the years.
This year the menu was..
APPETIZERS
Bacon wrapped sausages
Mexican tortilla spirals
Brie with pecans
DINNER
Steak with mushroom sauce
Turkey roll wrapped in bacon
Scalloped potatoes
Green beans with pearl onions and carrots.
French Bread
Greek and Spinach Salads
DESSERT
Chocolate Pie
Lemon Pie
Coconut Cream Pie
It is great to be able to see our pastoral staff in a setting where they can visit as couples...
laughing and eating and being on the other end of serving.
After dinner...
we cut up the pies...
and packaged up their take home treats.
Dorothy made up big scoops of cookie dough and froze it to go along with their hot chocolate for two!
We were some of the first couples to ever stay night at their beautiful inn...
a decision that we have never regretted and was the beginning of a friendship that has blessed us many times over.
It's a weekend we look forward to ...
from year to year.
all for now...
What a beautiful spread! This is such a lovely idea to serve your pastoral team in this way! The menu looks fabulous and I love that you even thought to send a "take home" gift with them!
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely a lovely blessing...for your pastors...for you great friends.
ReplyDeleteIt is a blessing to be a blessing and you sure are! Pastors and their wives need just as much pampering as any couple. So glad that you were able to give them a special meal.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great ministry this is for your pastoral staff. The menu was fabulous and the food looked so good!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful. Lovella. I'm sure the staff felt so loved and appreciated. The meal looked fabulous and I loved the square arrangement of the tables with the flowers on tables in the middle.
ReplyDeleteHi Lovella, just stopping by to say how delightful your blog is. Thanks so much for sharing. I have recently found your blog and am now following you, and will visit often. Please stop by my blog and perhaps you would like to follow me also. Have a wonderful day. Hugs, Chris
