RB

It is interesting how certain facts are forever lodged in my memory.
My mom and dad often talked about Nicolas Pauls who married them.
I never had met the pastor who passed away many years ago but I recall that at their 25th wedding anniversary they so wished he could attend from another province.

It is understandable isn't it?
The one who marries you before family, friends and most of all God has a vital role in your life.

This week I heard that the pastor who was most influential in my teen years and early adulthood has gone to be with the Lord.
He was known in our church as RB.
Always with his Bible in his left hand, he preached the word of God with passion and clarity.

I was wondering today...
How many couples must he have married?
How many funerals did he officiate?
How many couples did he counsel?
How many parents did he encourage?
How faithful he was.

He was instrumental in my life...
Thanking God today for the life of Rudy Boschman.
His suffering has ended and his life has truly began.

all for now...

  3. I love that verse Ellen quoted! RB did marriage counseling with us before we got married, spoke at our wedding and had a big impact on our lives. He was such a genuinely caring person. Thank you for honoring him with this post.

  4. He will always be remembered as a man of God - caring, funny, passionate about his Lord. He is entering his mansion to a full fanfare I'm sure.

  5. Lovella, thank you for honoring my Dad - his legacy is profound and we are so happy for him that his dearest wish has been realized at last. But speaking from a human perspective, the loss is very real and we miss him already. I know you have a huge readership, so I'll take this opportunity to pass along that his memorial service will be at Central Heights Church this friday @ 11:00. To quote Dad - "Blessings on you!"

    3. Something else I remembered today...is how after the bride and groom would walk down the aisle...he would always walk out after them and stop to take your mom's hand and together they would walk the rest of the way down the aisle. Very sweet!

  8. I went to church today to thank God for sparing us from the effects of the terrible hurricane and I thought about how our pastors always give us strength and comfort. RB sounds like a wonderful, well loved and admired pastor. May he rest in peace with the Lord.

  11. I too have special memories of different pastors who came into my life -- since our family moved so much there are many! Godly men are rare these days and it is a blessing to have our lives touched by them.

  12. Beautiful tribute to RB. He married us as well. We stood right where you did only several months before you. I smile thinking how our beginnings had so many similar things of great impact in our lives. I too remember him stopping to take his dear Anne with him to follow the newly wed couple. Today he is remembered by many.

  13. What a personal post for RB. He too was a great part of our life at Central Heights. They were great friends with my parents. A wonderful family and I love that baby blue suit. Yes, he was there at the funeral of my brother Len. He was a positive encouraging pastor and left a legacy which will be hard to beat.

  14. Thank you for all your kind words of support for the Hurricane Sandy, Lovella! I have been voluteering at a temporary shelter in Brooklyn the past few days for people that lost their homes. It is wonderful to see how many people are helping and donating goods that are needed
