where lupins once bloomed

It's Lupin blooming season.

This field that I wandered about last year. .
has been scraped clean. .
making way for a mall.

There are a few lingering lupins here and there. . .
I aim to go find them.

Have a wonderful weekend.

all for now ..

  1. My uncle Ronnie died suddenly in a car accident 2 years ago. He had planted lupine seeds years ago in the field behind his house. They come up year after year and show their glory. Every time I see a lupine now, I think of him. Thanks for this reminder today of a wonderful, gentle soul who now enjoys beauty beyond our comprehension.

  2. Beautiful blooms...especially en masse! And they are promising sunshine...so it may be the perfect weekend for lupin hunting. It's high time we all got outdoors.

  3. They'll have some trouble rooting out all those lupines...such an invasive plant, but oh so striking. I just dug out my "Miss Rumphius" book for the grands.

  7. How could I have forgotten about Miss Rumphius? Will the mall feature store that you will enjoy visiting year around as much as you enjoyed the seasonal lupine displays?

So glad you bogged how it looked before so when the grands are older you can show them how the place looked back when they were little.

  8. Where's the mall????
Lupines or shopping? I'd like both .... Maybe they could do what Seven Oaks did... the oaks are no more (which is too bad) ... but the mall kept the name...

  10. You go for it, Lovella! I'm a big believer in getting the old seeds/plants from construction lots before they all disappear.

  12. Lupins are just so beautiful! We don't really have them here in Indiana. My parents took us to PEI one summer and that's what we remember: the sea, the red earth, and the lupins, everywhere! What a shame yours are being traded in for a mall. :( Enjoy any you find!!

Thanks for your prayers for Laura. She's doing so well and we are just trying to emotionally recover from everything.
