Oh the rhubarb is nearly ready to harvest. . .how is yours? I loved the chatter between the Mennonite Girls Can Cook Yesterday. . . Rhubarb is read in more than one farm yard garden .. . Today I have Cold Oven Pound Cake with Strawberry filling posted over there. . .run and have a look. . and stay tuned. . the rhubarb recipes should be up in a week or two. .
Oh, I can't wait to get my kitchen fully installed...I'm anxious to get back to cooking and baking!!
ReplyDeleteMine's not ready for show-and-tell, but there's a patch down the road...
ReplyDeleteI'm ready for the rhubarb recipes...bring them on.
I hopped over to MGCC and saw your very pretty dessert!! Have fun today!
ReplyDeleteOur patch fell victim to the shovel when we built the addition to the house - I wasn't home to say 'STOP....there's rhubarb there!' It's a good thing that a friend down the road has a couple of patches that she's willing to share - but until they're planted I'll be getting mine from the market.
ReplyDeleteMine is just above ground...just. I can hardly wait for the rhubarb recipes to come in. But of last year's, I'll be rebaking Rhubarb Platz and Rhubarb Bread for sure.
ReplyDeleteAnother Grammie Day? Wow! You get a lot of those...
Well, yours is gorgeous!!! Mine is not really red (very disappointed). It's got about 5 stalks coming out of it. I had to remove a large flower which appeared almost immediately. Perhaps it needs a few more years to establish itself? Maybe I need several (not just one) plants! I don't foresee a rhubarb pie this year. :( Maybe I need some chicken manure :) :)
ReplyDeleteI just noticed the red peeking through yesterday - and with temperatures up to 19 this weekend (YAY!, it should come pretty quickly.
ReplyDeleteI hoping the SLC grocery stores will carry some this year, and next year perhaps I can have my own patch. I love rhubarb bread, and B. adores rhubarb pie...having our own patch just makes sense.
ReplyDeleteAhh rhubarb..is there anything better in spring?? My rhubarb is peeking out and some stalks have formed leaves so with a little warm weather I'll soon be baking up delicious 'rhubarb things'.
ReplyDeleteOurs is beginning to appear above the ground now -- it's a grammie day for me too!
ReplyDeleteMy mom used rhubarb a lot when baking...but I have never used it...what am I so afraid of? It tasted delicious. I will check out your recipes.
ReplyDeleteI must take the Rhubarb plunge.
Stay Cozy, Carrie
I love me some rhubarb! It doesn't grow well here :(
ReplyDeleteI had a patch of rhubarb up in Oregon, from my uncle's farm. I wonder if it's still there and if the new owners of my home know how wonderful it is.
Escape artist below--how well I know that manuever!
I'm going to start running to your house to find the real thing...because it well-tested.
ReplyDeleteNo comment on the condition of my rhubarb! and if you accuse me of being jealous I'll just deny it !! smile
ReplyDeleteMy rhubarb's growing great --- and is ready to be picked. Yummy eating ahead!
