little house at the ocean

From Cannon Beach we headed south down the wonderful stretch of the 101. The bumpy highway included . ..rolling hills .. .pasture lands .. .and Tillamook Factory . . .where we had a lunch of Chowders and. . ice cream cones.
The entire drive took not quite two hours and by early afternoon we pulled into Depoe Bay . . .eight miles south of Lincoln City. Sea and Sand RV promised terraced spots on down towards the beach . . .and on the lowest terrace .. .we shimmied our little house between the great motor homes. . .
This was likely the sunniest day of our holiday. . and so we walked the length of the bay. . .
and then parked ourselves in our lawn chairs. . and read. The clouds came in around 5:30. . which was a wee bit of a disappointment. .since I had great plans of an adventure down at the beach .. watching the sunset. .

Rather. . we came back to the little house. .where I have potatoes now roasting in the oven ..and a length of Teriyaki Pork Tenderloin is heading for the grill ..

All for now. . with love,

  2. I'm glad to read that you had an ice cream cone at Tillamook - delicious!
There's something very nice about being in a play house when the weather is nasty so I wish you a cosy time.

  4. Tillamook is a fun place...did you take the tour? You are not far from our place in Lincoln City...you may see it as you drive further...The Inn at Spanish Head...right on the beach built into the side of the cliff!

    Stay Cozy, Carrie

  5. I remember that drive from when I was a wee little girl, going to visit my grandparents! I think my very first memory of the ocean is from Depoe Bay (ah, those spouting horns!) and that is why I am an ocean and beach girl!

  6. Awww yes, pure bliss --- my favorite spot to be. Are the whales migrating?

Tillamook --- home of the best tea room ever --- La Tea Da --- two ladies --- wives of dairy farmers --- best scones and creamy delights around! They make a perfect cuppa tea!

    Have fun!

  7. Thanks for taking us along on your sea holiday!

Such a beautiful coastline - so different from this one.

Which Maeve Binchy are you on now?

  8. I remember visiting the Tillamook Cheese Factory, and to this day whenever I see Tillamook cheese, which is rare here in the East Coast, I remember that fun tour. How much fun, having your camper right on the beach, and the great view to go with it. You are certainly blessing me with good old memories this week.

  9. Is that blue sky I spy? I hope that they continue so that you can have a bit more warmth to your days and so that you can watch the clouds scuttle across the sky and so the birds will be out and you can be, too. Your dinner sounded marvelous!

I can almost smell the salt air and hear the gulls in that shot of you at the beach.

  13. So glad you found our favourite ocean view and campsite. We have many pictures of the kids & dogs playing in the surf. The sunsets are amazing, and the steady, unending drum of the waves is soothing to fall asleep to. I loved it there. HOpe you are enjoying it too!
