the little puff

Early Sunday morning we went out for early morning coffee.
Off we went. . . and then we stopped.
See the puff of steam over Mt. Baker? On the clearest of days, it can always be seen. . .
Perhaps one of these days it will let loose. . . (it would be something blog worthy wouldn't it?)
Mixed with the clouds. . it was a beautiful sight.
Must run .. .cousin camp. . .(I'm writing this Tuesday morning. . .while the wee ones are meant to be napping. . .one is quiet as a mouse, while the other one is knocking on the wall next to me. . .as though he knows I'm clicking away on my keyboard)
All for now. . . with love,

  1. Oh, those photos are stunning!

Yes, an event such as Mt. Baker letting off more than little puffs would definitely be blog-fodder! I'm not sure that you'd pause to get photos...would you?

  2. Now that sure beats the pants off sitting around Starbucks sipping the java. Absolutely glorious. What a blessing!

Yellowstone has been having clusters of earthquakes, and there is chatter about volcanic eruptions that are over due. If Baker does blow...will it be take camera or take cover?

  4. Amazing shots of Mt. Baker. Ya wonder about all our volcanoes up the Western side of North America??? We could really have a natural fireworks show sometime if they decided not to be dormant...

Sunrises, each one different, all beautiful.. if we are just there to see it. Thanks for being there.. trusty camera in hand !!
All those years I lived where I could see Mt.Baker I never got tired of it, and now that I have to drive a ways to see it .. I really miss it ! even though I have other mountains to look at !

The saying goes .. "When Mt St. Helen's talks Baker anwsers..." even for the silent type he has held his tongue for quite some time..and I do hope he decides not to answer at all !

  15. I love seeing the steam coming from mountains. It's both exciting and terrifying. Many mountains in Indonesia are volcanic and I remember FLYING in planes over them and looking down at the steamy centers.

  16. Hi Lovella, I stopped by for a visit. Thanks for the lovely pictures. When I went off to Bible School (12 years ago now!) I hung a picture of Mt. Baker in my dorm-room, calling it "my mountain". There's no mountains in sight where we live now ... so thanks for these pictures of my mountain. Love Julene

  17. What incredible pictures!!!! I'm so excited because I've been looking for a sunset picture and now I've found one! I've been practicing my watercolors and have been doing winter sky scenes (since they are so inspiring). Your first picture will be perfect! We'll see how it comes out. :)

  18. Indeed beautiful, even exquisite, but it's okay if it holds...we don't need any more excitement on the West Coast than is already being provided by the nasty weather.
