bright eyed and bushy tailed

This morning I was laying in bed thinking of all the pictures I must have taken on first days of school. . . .or. . .

all the pictures I did not take the first days of school.

Regardless, the pictures are firmly planted in my mind.

I'm claiming old fashioned film camera in this particular bad shot.

One shot. . ."I hope you had your eyes open boys". . . there was always that hope that the eyes were open.

No matter, off to school they went with their enormous lunch kits and grocery bags filled with school supplies.

On another note. . .

I'm reading the daily devotional ..

My Utmost for his Highest. . . by Oswald Chambers.

I always go back to this study when I need a kick start. . .and I do.

I felt today's read was fitting for my life. . .the line that hit me was. .

"If we believe in Jesus, it is not what we gain but what He pours through us that really counts. God's purpose is not simply to make us beautiful plump grapes, but to make us grapes so that He may squeeze the sweetness out of us."

Jesus words in John 7:38 backs this up. . .

Whoever believes in me, as the Scripture has said, streams of living water will flow from within him.. . .

In this world it is nearly impossible to think in terms of what we can offer before thinking of what others may offer to us.

I'll think of that one today. . .

Off for my 30 minutes walk. . .

Today I have let you in on the second vital reprioritzing of my life. .

Have a wonderful day my friends.

  1. Were your bright eyed and bushy tailed boys in private school...they look like they are dressed in uniform. How quickly those years slip by!

  3. I wonder if I can even locate the first day of school photos? We still have so many boxes in storage...and where are the photos?

Good thought: what can I offer to someone?

    Have a wonderful day!

  6. Lovella, as I sit here at my computer, not yet having gone out for my daily walk (but very soon ;-) -- I just want to tell you I was reading those very same words this morning and they spoke to my heart as well. After reading Oswald Chambers biography last year, I find myself often looking to his example, and reading through My Utmost for His Highest this year really does inspire and encourage.

  7. Reminds me of the old song (hymn?)Channels Only. So often I'm much too preoccupied with my own thoughts and plans, and the channel is too cluttered to allow His love to flow through.

  8. Kick Starts! Isn[t that the truth.
I started on Oswald Chalmers around August 11th. I have often underlined things on my book or dated things and it's so good to use his stuff.
    He's so real.
First days are so memorable aren't they? The impressions made by the teachers can break or make our kids.

  9. Oswald Chambers..one of my favorite devotionals. Yesterday I had several hours on the bike to ponder the question "what have I done this past season and what am I going to do for others this season." I saw my selfishness as I reflected and asked God to put the things before that He wants me to do/give/serve. I smiled at the photo of your boys. Those were great years! Enjoy this beautiful day. 10. Judy. ..yes they did go to private school. .. not one day of trying to figure out how to dress them. I would recommend uniforms for every school. . . .but who's asking me?

  13. Ah yes, I remember the school uniforms. My son Shaun would come home with V shaped scissor cuts in his sweater vest. He never seemed to know how that had happened. Hmmmm...

  14. Your boys are so cute!

I've also read My Utmost for his Highest. I like it. Right now, I'm reading an online copy of Tozer's book The Pursuit of God - also a classic.

I enjoy hearing about your re- prioritization exercise. They are priorities for me as well.Looking froward to hearing more.

  15. This year I have been reading the devotionals in a little book called Celtic Night Prayers. Each month has a different focus. Back in the early summer, I was amazed that the focus and comments were exactly what I needed for the month. Why was I surprised??
