start humming the Mary Tyler theme song . .

Oh we are having a fantastically blustery day here. I'm taking the last picture of the fall foliage in our back yard. If the rain stops those leaves will be history tomorrow.

Fantastic news, last night as the men folk were putting up gyproc in basement number 2 at kids number 2 house, my girl and I went to Winners and Homesense and look what I found.

The hat . ..your looking at the hat. (in case it was hard to tell). I found this Italian Galliano Sorbatti hat for 24 bucks. I snapped it up and sadly noted it was only in black. I really need a red hat . .

This hat is very similar to my Lillie and Cohoe but it is cozy and well . .. i liked it. I wish I would have taken a picture of their pup Tobee investigating and making sure the furry part was safe for my head. He just couldn't get enough sniffs in.

I'm dressed and ready to go. My beloved is in the barns and perhaps later we'll go out and begin some Christmas shopping.

I have to say here that I felt a moment or two of Mary Tyler Moore. I would have tossed the hat up in the air but that would have taken self photography to a new unpredictable level.

I came back in the house, was delighted to see that Jill sent me another few chapters of the book she is writing. This made me lonely for her and I rang her up. I just had to tell her about my hat find and give her some encouragement on her writing. Oh, what a blessing it is to make new friends. It seems hard to believe that last year I only began to read Jill's blog and now we can connect via email, on my front porch, (as we did this summer) and also by phone.

All for now my friends, have a wonderful weekend.

  1. Who is this italian guy??? He is one hot milliner...I LOVE the fluffy ball and bow combo. Just looking at it makes my sense of womanly confidence rise. What a bargain price too.
That is the kind of hat that when you make eye contact with your man, you smile mysteriously, and then lower your eyes and your head slightly, so they can still just see the smile under the brim...a perfect move drive them wild. I could see in one picture that you've already mastered that move.(wink.)
I love having you as a friend, fellow blogger, and now book reviewer. Hurray for phones, email, and air planes that make our friendship possible even at such a great distance.
(And would you pretty please go outside and swoosh some of your cool crisp air down my way? I'd appreciate it! Thank you!)

  5. Hey Cousin James, click on the link on my blog where I talk about the show . . .
You know maybe that girl show did that too. It also rings a bell.

  6. James must have *really liked* Mary Tyler Moore to remember that she was in both That Girl and The Mary Tyler Moore Show.
(And yes, it was during the MTM theme song when she threw her hat in the air. There is a statue of her doing that on the corner of Minneapolis where that scene was filmed.)
I think I'm well on my way to earning my Nanowrimo "Procastination" merit badge after leaving this silly comment.
Next up: Using unnecessary extra verbage and redundancy and excess descriptive words and phrases, and having people end sentences with "ya" and eh?" even though they are not Canadian in order to pad my word count and earn my Nanowrimo "Padding my word count" merit badge.
(I'm not kidding, they really do have those merit badges. Along with one for Caffeine Abuse while writing. Running Wildly would nail that one in a heart beat.

  11. Oh yes...the hat had your name on it!

  12. I must say that you do look great in a hat... In your neck of the woods you can wear them most of the time...and it is very becoming...you made a very good purchase... was your girl as lucky as you in finding herself a hat that was as equally becoming?

and sounds like you had fun with your Christmas purchases as well..

  13. Wow, you are right, it was Marlo Thomas in that girl, MTM in the hat throw.
They say the knees are the first to go, I'm thinking it might be memory instead.

  14. Your comment on my blog just now got me so choked up. For me, admitting my weaknesses, stating it in front of others was a very difficult (but freeing) thin to do. So your comment was so perfect. It spoke so softly to my heart. So thank you, once again.
