saturday peek

This is really one of my favorite times of year. Everything is lush.
The spring rains don't warm the bones through but they create beauty.
All the tall grasses growing in the ditches are green and even the weeds
have a beauty of their own. This is a glance of my flower garden.
Today I have typical Saturday work to do. Do you have a day of the week that you clean, bake and do laundry? What is your typical Saturday?
The sheets are in the wash, and the laundry is sorted.
I have a batch of no knead multigrain bread on the counter, did you try to make it?
I'm going to give the floors a wash today and give the bathrooms a good scrub.
I'm going to make a rhubarb pie. My plant is out of control.
I think we'll have some dinner guests later in the evening, kind of impromptu.
Sometimes that's what I enjoy most.
I'm pondering my sons birthday post. I'll probably spend some time on that through out the day as I feel inspired.
So, that's it. The window into my day. Whatever you do on your Saturday, I hope you have a wonderful day.

  1. You are so organized, Lovella! I am not as regimented as I used to be with my household chores, but routine is such a stabalizing influence in our life -- and makes improptus so easy!
    Have a wonderful day!
PS. I can smell your rhubarb pie! Don't set it on the window sill to cool or I may just run off with it!!

  2. Ok, I don't know how I missed your post yesterday ... the pictures are very inspiring... isn't it amazing how people live so differently? Your garden is also inspirational - I need to start learning what will work in my spaces around the house. I would love to have something as beautiful as your garden.

  3. My Saturday? I baked multi-grain bread(not the no knead recipe),did laundry, vacuumed and washed floors, made rhubarb jam and baked pies, a few each of apple and rhubarb. Now I took a break..at the computer!
Your flowers look amazing Lovella..mine are just barely starting to bloom.
    Enjoy your evening with friends..

  4. Thank-you for opening the window a bit so we could take a peek into your day today!

Our Saturday is so boring without Goomba here (he's at his Dad's). Otherwise it's adventure day!

  7. PS: We are a little 'ahead' of you in the flower department. My lilacs are all done, and so are my rhodies. You are so fortunate to still have them in bloom to enjoy!

  8. You're ahead of us in the flower dept! All of that beauty is just around the corner - we've been having some sweet warm rain and everything is green as can be - the leaves are just beginning to unfold and my mock cherry tree is just about to bloom. We're just waiting for some sun.

When all five of mine were home we always had Saturday work and each of my 5 children had their chores to do. Now I space it out over the week although my 16 yr old (the only one home right now)still does her Sat work. I had many different "schemes" to instill good work habits in the children but that was the best.
