Yesterday I cleaned up all the Christmas decorations and felt completely exhausted. How ridiculous. Every year I can't wait to get it all up and every year I sigh a big relief when its all put away.
This morning Bea came over and I'm not sure how it all began but somehow I coerced her into an all out closet cleaning extravaganza. I've always admired her neat and tidy cupboards and closets and we have talked about her tackling mine. She started around 9:30 this morning and basically cleaned up my mess for 12 hours. She just organized her little heart out. My job was to stand ready with the bags for charity and the bags for the dump. Oh my. I'm too embarrassed to show you the pictures of those.
She said she liked it. That's what she said.
I have no idea why God has blessed me with such wonderful daughter-in-laws. I am so thankful. They both have brought things to my life which I could never have anticipated. I delighted in raising two sons. I would not have traded them for girls, I couldn't even imagine. This is a new season in my life and some of the benefits of being a middle-aged woman are so underrated. If you are reading this and you are raising little boys, begin to pray today for the girls that will someday be a part of your family. My prayers have been answered more than I could have ever imagined. Today will be a cherished memory for many years to come. If your closets are in dire need of an organizing angel you know what I mean.
What a boost. Now all I need to do is give my floors a good wash, clean my light fixtures and guess what, I'm ready for spring.
