Happy First Day of School!

Those were the days!
That first day of school was always exciting.
New runners and new uniforms and new school supplies.

Stuart looks a bit worried there.
I hope his little girl is looking braver this morning.

Terrence is no doubt looking at his neighbour friends Adrienne and Carissa and laughing that his mom is taking a picture.
I bet his little boy is having his picture taken this morning too.

I would love nothing more than to go to school this morning and spy on our grands as they enter grade one together.
It's not my job anymore and so I'll sit here and wait for the phone call about how it all went.
I'll pray for them as they embark on another chapter of life.

all for now...

  2. This picture is so cute! Do you suppose Stuart was concerned about his runners? Sneakers? It must have been at the height of wearing different shoes. My daughter and her best friend traded one shoe so that they could walk around making the rest of us scratch our heads. Oh, yes, to be a fly on the wall. I'd like to do that myself. At least your school system has the good sense to begin this week and not last. Here's praying for some excellent stories to be told!

  5. I have a grandchild who entered grade one today too - in Edmonton. I received a photo on email at 7:30 and then a phone call at the end of the day. I'd like to have been a fly on the wall of the classroom!

  7. Isn't it surreal to observe the next generation in life's big moments? As we watch our children send off their kids we realize that their own memories play a part in today and .. life and love go on. It's all good.

  8. Such a nice post of years gone by and a new year beginning. Many of us grandma's will be praying for our families as the new school year begins.
