Anniversary trip to Vancouver

On Thursday morning we packed our bags and headed across the toll bridge to Vancouver.
It was a bit sad that it was rainy for our first time across the new bridge but it was exciting none the less.

It was hard for my beloved to know if the wipers should be on or off...
since the requests in that regard came fast and furious on my side of the car.

On the west side of the bridge the skies already looked lighter and the wipers were turned off for the rest of the ride into the city.

We combined a trip to the city with farming meetings and invited our kids to join us for the parts that they could.

We arrived at the hotel in time for lunch.
I ordered this chopped salad at Milestones and really enjoyed it but would certainly order the dressing on the side in the future.

Our view from our hotel room was perfect.
With the sun shining we could see straight down Burrard Street north to the inlet.

We enjoyed a fantastic dinner at Sutton Place on the Friday night.

Saturday morning we scooted out for an early coffee and muffin in the sunshine.

After a lunch we headed down the the sea wall where spring was evident all around us and the folks of Vancouver were excited to be released into the sunshine.

I snuck a photo of Bea (and Terrence) while she was busy taking photos of her own.

I had only my phone with me used the camera to record memories of this wonderful day with our grown up kids.

The buds were opening up everywhere and if I wasn't convinced that it is spring before...
I am now.

On Sunday at noon we came back to the farm.
City living is fantastic for three nights at a time...
but I'm a country girl at heart and happy to be back in the bungalow with my beloved.

all for now...
with love,

  1. It strikes me that you have the best of both worlds where you live in the country, yet Vancouver is not very far away. If I didn't have a wee patch of daffodils mere inches from a snow bank, I'd despair of spring. Now your spring appears very well begun.

  2. Wow, spring has sprung there! We had about 15 inches of snow last week, but it is all nearly gone...thank goodness!

Happy Anniversary to a very special couple!

  3. It looks like you had the perfect little get-away! I'm smiling about the wipers-on/wipers-off orders. We (my chauffeur and I) know whereof you speak. :)

  5. That looks like the perfect anniversary get-away! I too had to giggle with your description of the wipers! You two look wonderful - are you sure you didn't use a "soft focus" lens - lol! I can't believe how far ahead Spring is your way! So beautiful.

I'm in awe at all the blooms there, and just a wee bit jealous too!
Are you sure that was a muffin, because it looks like a cheese ball

    1. Funny... I was thinking as I split the muffin in half for us to share that in days gone by this amount of muffin batter would have been enough for a whole tin of muffins.

Sounds like you had a great getaway. I always love coming home after a few days away. I think that says a lot about how we live doesn't it.
