the motorcycle jump

I came around the corner of the barn and was met by the sound of a motocycle spinning gravel and in a big hurry to meet me.
He said..." go sit over there on the grass....Grandpa made me a jump."
I said...."he did...did he?"

And sure enough...there it was a first jump for a 4 year old.

He loves wheels and it is somehow comforting for me to know that Grandpa can still control jumps.

We sat behind the barn in the field and watched the show.
How is striving for  "air" intuitive?

I like to keep my wheels on the ground.

Why did I post this first jump?
One day it will make him smile in a different way than he smiled when I gave him the thumbs up.

all for now....

  1. Good idea to control those jumps! I bet he thinks you two are about as cool as cool can be. ☺ (He'd be right, of course.)

  2. That is too cute! I can see my grandson doing the same thing since his parents are both dirtbikers. I've never seen a child sized one with training wheels.

  3. Why not post his first jump...I love it...next you will be taking the training wheels off and then he will be air borne...and you will continue to release him.

  4. What is it about striving for air, indeed?
I know you'll be glad you documented this when he is soaring in the big world.

  5. My question: Is his same aged female cousin determined to get "air" too? Usually I think this need to jump is a guy thing, but for some reason I can visualize her in full bmx gear, flying high, then stopping, pulling off her helmet and tossing her long brown hair as she grins in victory.

  6. So cute and yes it's nice in these early years when you can still control their jumps...

  7. Boys and their 'getting air'! This jump you can still watch...and smile. The jumps down the road may be a little harder to watch!

  9. Getting air... oh it's such a boy thing! So nice when you can still control the jump and see those extra "stabilizers" on the side.
    Very cute post!

  10. This warms my heart. What a wonderful caring grandpa who knows just what little boys need and a grammie who reflects and records this precious moment in time!!!

  11. So fun!....and the little guy must feel so proud of his accomplishments, and so loved by his grandparents. These are the moments that create those "forever" memories.

  12. Good job, grandpa! I'm sure the two of you did just the right amount of cheering to make him feel good inside.

  13. Something tells me that this may just be the beginning of their fun adventure together. It certainly brought me a smile this morning.
