friend from the good shepherd shelter

On Sunday evening we had a small get together with our new friend from the Good Shepherd Shelter.
Myrna who has visited there many times graciously offered to come share her experiences with us.

Hours flew by most quickly when our questions kept flying and her obvious passion  the people there combined.

She brought her photo albums and computer.
We learned that the Good Shepherd Shelter is on Facebook and so they were quickly "liked".

Names now mean something....
and our prayers can be more

We always felt a strong call to help this place where abandoned children are loved and taught about the love of Jesus....
and now we feel a strong connection.

We just never expected that in blessing those little ones far away...
would also be blessing one in our own city.

  9. It was almost surreal to meet someone who knew the workers and many of the kids by name. Myrna loves those people like family and would be back there tomorrow if she could be... It is wonderful to support a project far away, but even better when we can bring it so close to home . .. which for me happened in a new way, when I realized anew how close this place possibly is to where my grandparents came from. Hearing Myrna's Russian pronunciation of the names of the places, reminded me so of my grandma talking... making me wish I could still ask her some questions.

    1. You are so right Annelise...these people are like family to me. My heart can't express how much I love them all and ache each and everyday to go back to my people in Ukraine. I loved meeting you all so much and was so blessed by your commitment to the shelter. I went home and cried. I pray God will continue to bring our paths together in helping these forgotten children of Ukraine. They truely are my heart, heritage and passion.

  10. I see familiar faces in the group! My maternal grandmother immigrated in 1910 from the Ukraine, so it will always be a special place to me. It is wonderful the shelter does there for the children!
