seeing a glimpse of the plans

Several weeks ago we visited Rockridge Canyon.
The sign said. . .visitors report to the office. . .and so we did.
The girl at the desk welcomed us. . .we stood there. . .
I said. . ."the sign said to report in. . .we just want to have a look around".
She said. . ."oh wonderful. . .I'll buzz someone from upstairs to show you around."
A few minutes later we were introduced to a really nice fellow that gave us the "coles notes". . .on who comes to Rockridge Canyon and how the resort came to be and so on.

From what I understand. . .

It is a facility built primarily for kids. . .to come and be with adults who care about them .

Each day is filled with tons of activities. . .

times of learning about God. . .

great food. . .

and good clean fun.

The summer months are set aside for high school aged kids. . .

and the rest of the year is available for church group retreats.

I wanted to be there. . .

I can see myself being there. .

. . . .specifically here.

Don't you just wonder sometimes. . .

what plans God still has for you life?

What good am I anyway?

On days that I feel quite unlovely. . .

I hold on the the promise in God word.

"For I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord.

They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope."

Jeremiah 29:11

God. . .

loves me that much.

All for now. . .

  2. What a great place! You are right...I do often wonder just what are God's plans for my life...the rest of it, anyway. It's reassuring to know that His plans for us - for me - are "for good and not for disaster!"

  3. I had to check that one out...never heard of it, but it looks like a great place. And if we don't fit into the target group...I'm sure they take applications for that state-of-the-art kitchen.

Life is an adventure, Lovella...we know not what the future holds...but we do know His plans are good.

  4. With the television series "Hell's Kitchen" being so popular, imagine how cool it would be to see a show called "Heaven's Kitchen", about a kitchen that serves those who come to learn about God at a retreat.

Now that would be something worth watching!

Are you ready to star in such a show? Of course you are! One way or another it would be a show seen by millions, either on TV here, or on the eternal network in heaven.

  5. Whoa! That is one great retreat kitchen! I've worked in a smaller camp kitchen and it was a good experience. Blessings on your thoughts and dreams Lovella...

  6. I spent a weekend at Rockridge Canyon for one of our church women's retreats - what a spectacular place! A few of the husbands came along to help in the kitchen. I can imagine you there, cooking up a storm.....wouldn't that be fun......if it is in "the plans" for you.....

  7. Isn't it amazing to know that we don't have to worry about where to go and when, that HE will lead us, we just have to follow... I love that! Sure takes the pressure off of me.... Have a wonderful day and thanks for the thought provoking message.
P.S. my kids went to Rockridge High School and so did my husband in Illinois, USA. I smiled when I saw the name.

  8. I know the feeling, Lovella ... kitchens - as much as large kitchens intimidate me - are calling my name too and I wonder...

  10. What a wonderful place! I understand your thoughts as you walked through it. We would be thrilled to have a place like it, in our part of the country.

Jeremiah 29:11 is what I did a term paper on, many years ago. The best part of that is, it is as relevant today as it was way back then. Who knows where each of us will end up, and what we will be doing in His great plans.

  11. I am so glad whenever I hear about places like this. Is there a possibility of volunteering or working there? I'm sure all of us can imagine you in that kitchen!

  12. My parents have worked in that kitchen...they decided they could live there. :)

  13. Just the words I needed to hear. Sometime, as the grands get older especially, you do wonder who needs me. I do all the volunteer work I can handle and that helps. Beautiful photos.

  15. That place looks wonderful...and YES I can could so easily see you in that marvelous kitchen!
Doesn't God so often first give us a hint of where He could be taking us.
Keep your eye on the dream and God will do the rest! He has great plans for you!

  17. Well, I must say, that I occasionally argue with Him about the direction my life has taken the last few years. But I hang on to this verse and know that He does not lie--no matter how dim it looks right now! Thanks. C
