loving dollies . . .

I've loved dollies my whole life.
I cried the last Christmas that I knew I was unreasonably too old to request yet one more dolly.
As a grown woman. . .
I have occasionally acquired dressed teddy bears to quench the love for dollies.
This year. . . I began to purchase dollies again. . .the selection is most amazing.
Horsey's on Springs. . . and itsy. . bitsy babies. . .
so fun.
Shhhh .. . .
Woo Hoo.
The 85 kilometer wind gusts blowing from the north east. .
shredded my flag. . .
has caused shingles to fly past the window. . .
has my computer completely confused with the sudden off's and on's from power outages ..
has me remembering winters from my childhood.
It's a grammie day. . .I best put my sneakers on.
All for now, with love.

  1. Everywhere I've visited today around cyberspace, people are dealing with cold, gusty winds, ice, snow...and here we are expecting temperatures in the 80s (F) and oodles of sunshine. Winter is definitely my favorite season in Florida!

Shhh...I have some of my favorite dolls from my childhood safely stored away...hopefully waiting for a granddaughter someday.

  2. I love dollies too - I secretly played with them until I was 14 :)
My daughter adores dolls too - and has a collection on a shelf in her room. The others are stored safely in 2 pink rubbermaid bins waiting for granddaughters to come.

  3. Aww what a cute picture, Lovella! I never was much of a 'dollie girl' but who needed dolls when we had so many cats on the farm to dress up and push around in the doll carriage.

  5. Great picture...Lovella!

I don't think I was crazy about dolls as a kid...I rather like them now. Have a fun Grammie day!

  6. My dollies got lost in one of my parents' moves...sad.

Our sky is glorious this morning! Our rain storms usually only last a day. I hope you get your shingles back on quickly!

  7. First thing I noticed was that you haven't changed a bit. It's a rare thing when one could match the childhood picture with the adult, but I'd win this one and so would everyone else.

Loved my dollies, too. And here I am not wanting to give Pearl away. :D

You asked about the weather here. Well, it hasn't been as crazy as 85 mph winds like you've had, but we've had fluctuations of 50 degrees or more from one day to the day after the day after. Yesterday, it was 50 degrees at 9 pm. The day before, it was in the low 20s and the day before, it had been down to nearly zero. We did have a nasty ice storm going into the weekend with lots of homes losing power.

  9. I love buying dollies for little girls or big girls probably because I can only remember having one doll when I was little. It was plastic with the hair painted on. Wow your winds sound ferocious!! Stay warm...

  10. i'm hoping the wind gets all this gustiness out of its system before our plane is due to land in 5 more days :)

the first thing i noticed about your picture was the nativity set in the background...the cardboard cutout one. i grew up with that very same set under our tree every year, just as my dad had grown up with it under his. sudden, forceful hit of nostalgia!

  11. I remember desperately wanting a Barbie doll when I was younger, and although I received many different types of dolls, never a genuine Barbie. I shared that with a friend once, and for my 40th birthday (which now seems a long time ago now too?!) she gave me my very first Barbie!! So I guess you're never too old for dolls. Have fun shopping!
