Special Edition

I don't normally post on Saturdays since even bloggers have to do their Saturday Cleaning and laundry. I'm posting a Special Edition today. I considered posting it tomorrow and calling it "The Lord God made them all" but I thought you would consider me jesting.

Then I thought I could call this, reasons to keep your toilet clean .. .you never know when you will need to take a picture of your toilet bowl as a blogger.

We have had a LOT of rain. It has rained three days and three nights and things that normally swim down stream are swimming upstream to search for dry land. I was preparing to get ready to go over to friends for dinner late afternoon yesterday. I turned the light on in the bathroom and jumped two feet vertically.

Now, I've raised little boys and I'm completely prepared to find the kind of pets that little boys consider keepers but I didn't see the lil' farm hand pocket this little guy, so I couldn't blame him.

I called my beloved who was working in the shop, and told him to come quickly. He peered at the salamander, claimed innocence and flushed. Upon the swirling of the toilet, the salamander began to swim vigorously, not completely willing to go whence he cometh.

There you go, a Saturday post .. .I'm off to strip the bed and .. . clean toilets.

Have a good day my friends, see you on Monday.

  1. Yuk! I could expect something like this on Julene's post, but here? At least he was easy to clean up.

  4. What a surprise!!! Poor guy. I remember finding a red salamander as a child and thinking it was the coolest thing!

  5. I remember finding a mushroom growing where it shouldn't after one particularly long period of rain...even that made me scream. I would've passed out to see that. This really is reinforcing my belief that one should turn on the light before taking a seat...as it were.

Happy weekend! Oh, that toilet bowl is clean.

  7. EEEEEew!!! I would have jumped too! In my 60+ years I have NEVER seen one of them guys in the house!!! At least he hadn't crawled out of the toilet yet !! imagine stepping on 'that' in your bare feet if you had gotten up at night ... sorry! I guess you'll remember the slippers now!! SMILE
Well. if everyone is cleaning their toilets I might as well go clean mine too!!

  8. Between this post and mine, we could open an insect/creature zoo. Geeze, I would have ran screeching only to never return to the bathroom ever again. Do you find you're awfully jumpy now? I'm looking every which way and lifting up towels etc when I go in........I'm totally paranoid. Perhaps I should be committed. ;)

  9. Wow, I can't say that I've ever seen that in any toilet! I'd have jumped 2 feet too!
    Have fun cleaning! :)

  10. How funny! That reminds me of something that happened at one of our previous homes. We had recently moved in, and like in your case, we'd had a lot of rain. My kids came in from school and headed off to their rooms. Seconds later, my son came running and yelling, calling for me to come. He was nearly doubled over with laughter. The kids had heard a "thump...thump...thump" coming from the bathroom...toilet. He carefully lifted the lid and saw a big ugly toad trying to jump out, banging his head on the lid with each hop. He was big. I didn't think flushing would work, but that must have been his route. We just closed the lid and left him for my hubby to deal with.

Doc came home, peered at the ugly fellow, and flushed. End of story...but not of the laughter!

Oh, by the way, I did just clean my toilets right before the Realtor visited this afternoon! ;)

  11. Aww, the poor little salamander just wanted to be out of the rain. I hate to say it, but I think The Professor would have rescued the thing and put it outside. He does that with 'good spiders'. I'm pretty much immune to having 'things' in the house after my years in Papua. The only exception is snakes!

  12. Oh my goodness...we rarely see such creatures in our area and definitely not indoors! I'm quite happy to be missing out on all the rain that's falling there this week...although I am hoping my basement is still high and dry.

It looks like your toilet was not in need of a Saturday cleaning this week.

  15. Awe. I had newts as pets as a child that I found outside. I must admit if that had been my toliet I would have been very very surprised and then laughed in delight to have such an unexpected visitor. I am sorry you flushed it... hope it found its way outside again...

  16. My, my!.....now I'll be thinking of this every time...er, ahem! Well, you know what I mean. Let's just say I'll be looking before I sit down. There's not much chance of salamanders here in dry Southern California, but stranger things have been known to happen.

  17. Well, that's exciting! It makes me think I should turn the light on in the dark of night before seating myself :)
