The Twelfth Night

All right. .. join us on date day. . . we are already double dating so a few more won't hurt at all.
Ray and Becky , my beloved and I went into Vancouver for the day. We stopped to shop on Robson St. where I popped into a children's shop to buy a couple of wee hoodie jackets .. . had lunch on a patio. . .and then went into Stanley Park for the remainder of the afternoon.

Warm but very hazy we enjoyed watching the other tourists enjoy the view. Since we've seen it before, it is always intriguing hearing what other's think of the city that we most often visit.

I was most interested in the beautiful flowers growing wild interspersed with the old growth trees.

The trails throughout the park are just as I remember as a child. . . but the zoo is gone and we all lamented this fact. Other cities have zoo's . . .we want Vancouver to have one too.

A violent wind storm ripped through the park several winters ago and has levelled some of the areas .. .but we were surprised to see that many of the old trees remain.
One more tree picture. . .we would have needed a few more friends to hold hands around this tree.
Ah. . .we took a picture of the totem poles since that is what all the other tourists were doing.. .
we couldn't just stand there looking curious.

After dinner at Bridges Restaurant on the pier, we hurried off to claim the last few available seats. . .(rush seating). Last year we went when Jill came to visit and took the last seats that time as well.
(Edited in later). . I forgot to say this morning that while we were sitting there it started to thunder. . .exactly as it did last year while we attended with Jill. The familiar sound of rain pelting down on the tent. . and last night. . or I should say this morning. . . I was accused of not only my usual snoring. . (so he says). . but I also woke up with every thunder clap and was doing the familiar startle reflex that small babies do .. . not so attractive in a nearly 50 year old woman. . .apparently
So, this year we saws Twelfth Night. It was an interesting play set during the Prohibition era. The costuming was wonderful complete with cloche hats and gangster apparel. It is so amazing to me that they can learn all those lines written in 1600 and transport the entire play into another period simply by changing the backdrop and costuming.
So, we received our cultural experience for the summer and we're back to being farmers today.
Today looks like a quieter day and hopefully I'll have some time to visit you as well. .
Have a wonderful day my friends.

  1. Oh I am so jealous! Bard on the Beach...what a great event to keep on your yearly calendar of "must do" events. I had such fun with you two and Becky and Ray last year. 12th Night in cloche/flapper era: awesome. I would have been just itching to get a cloche to wear too.

Nice to see a picture of Becky again. She must have had a really busy schedule lately, you two were long over due for fun time together. Maybe next year we can drive up and make it a group of six for the event!

  11. I had forgotten about the thunderstorm!

About that cute first picture of you and Mr. T walking hand and hand:
I thought you said you would never dress "matchy-matchy" with your husband like your parents did.
Check the shorts length...tee shirt...it is just a slippery slope and you'll be sporting matching windbreakers and hawaiian shirts!
