jeepers creepers where did you get those peepers

Fabulous news. I can see. I've been carrying a prescription around in my purse for a year. I've been using drugstore reading glasses and leaving them here and there willy nilly.
A few weeks ago, I had Bea come with me to see what could be done about the need for something less tacky.
Oh boy, lots to pick from. I should really take the dimensions of my face so that you could imagine the problem of choosing glasses for a narrow width across the eyes. I usually try on kids glasses and they are almost the right size for my face.
So, the choice was made, the bank account was emptied and today was pick up day. Far be it from me to be too proud to waste a blogging opportunity and a smile for all of you.
Come a little closer . . .that's it ..

Sing with me if you will . . . ."I can see clearly now the rain is gone . . .hum with me . .I can't remember the next line. .
So, no more asking the person across the table to hold the menu for me. I'm good to go. I'm having a little trouble with the computer screen, there seems to be a bit of distortion. Hmm, that's not good.
The good news is when I got home, Terry liked them. That is the main thing. I after all won't be looking at me . .he'll be looking at me.
He immediately packed me in the truck and took me to Starbucks, . . .. he kept smiling at me from across the table. I'm sure of it. . . . .I saw it very clearly.
Now about my hearing loss . . . .

  1. Hmmm...tacky drugstore glasses?? I'm still using those..lol
I love your glasses though, they do look very nice! And of course these won't be left laying around "willy nilly"...I have these drugstore glasses almost in every room, in my purse and in the car!

  2. Is it "all of the bad feelings have disappeared" or "gone are the da da da that had me down" something like that or "I can see all obstacles in my way" I love speaking in lyrics and you are taking me back. The glasses are great and welcome back to the seeing world!

  3. Ellen, now I had to know, I looked them up . . .so we can truly have a proper sing along. . . I can see clearly now, the rain is gone,
I can see all obstacles in my way
Gone are the dark clouds that had me blind
It’s gonna be a bright (bright), bright (bright)
    Sun-Shiny day.

I think I can make it now, the pain is gone
All of the bad feelings have disappeared
Here is the rainbow I’ve been prayin?for
It’s gonna be a bright (bright), bright (bright)
    Sun-Shiny day.

Look all around, there’s nothin?but blue skies
Look straight ahead, nothin?but blue skies

I can see clearly now, the rain is gone,
I can see all obstacles in my way
Gone are the dark clouds that had me blind
It’s gonna be a bright (bright), bright (bright)
    Sun-Shiny day.

  8. Love love LOVE the glasses...you look so beautiful! What a great smile you have and it just enhances your pretty face.

by the way, I think you look so pretty in purple...one of the past pictures had you in deep purple...you really pop in that color.

Glad you can see, praying about your hearing!

    Hugs;
    Kimmie
ps- thanks for calling me sweet, you are very kind my dear friend!

  9. The color and shape are perfect. You were so wise to choose ones with no frame on the bottom. I find myself thinking I'm going to step on something and them remember, no that is just the frame in the way. I still am thinking of taking a signing class for the hard of hearing in our family, so at least if you start to go deaf you will be able to see me signing. Oh shoot! and my wrinkles:) Glad Terry liked them. Kathy

  11. Lovella, very nice!!
And yes, Terry liking them is very important. Vic liked mine when I got them too!!
I think that is what I liked best about getting proper perscription glasses...I put them on in the morning and I save all the hours I used to spend looking for my drugstore glasses that no matter how many pair I had they were everywhere except where I needed them !!
    Welcome back to seeing 'normal'.

  12. You look very stylish, Lovella! It's much easier dealing with the vision problems than with the hearing problems. I'm right there...just trying to get the nerve up to see a specialist about my sudden thankfulness for closed-captioning on TV programs! Must be an age thing...

Now I have a new tune stuck in my head...

  13. Adorable, Lovella! I need to make the same journey -- my bifocals are scratched and I'm depending upon a pack of reading glasses from Costco. I have one in the bedroom, one of my desk, one in the bathroom, one in my purse, oh, and one on my head! LOL!

    You look lovely!

  14. Gee, you look so smart!
(That is what everyone says to me when I am wearing my glasses. When I am in contacts, it changes from "smart" to "pretty"...what a trade off!)
Has Terry gotten up the nerve to make passes at the girl in glasses? He could be in for a surprise, "smart" girls are just wild once they toss off their glasses!
The pussycat points are so in right now, Laura just got a pair in that shape and I'm looking at the shape as well. Last time I had pussycat shaped glasses was back in 6th grade. Oh boy, all things old are new again.
Several people I know now how "computer" prescription glasses as well as reading glasses. I'm about ready to go with that idea.
I'm just surprised you didn't try to co-ordinate a flashy European hearing aide with diamonds to pussycat glasses with diamonds. A total co-ordination of facial accessories.
I just booted two ear worms out yesterday...and am scrunching my face against getting infested with "clearly now..."

  15. Lovella, you're stylin'! Love the new do and the funky shades. I'll be watching to make sure you don't start looking over the top of those rims ... too young for that! Enjoy all the little details around you; I can remember when I first started wearing my glasses that everything seemed to have more detail, the blur was gone ... your flowers are going to look even more gorgeous now!

  16. Nancy, yesterday after I ran into you I told Terry, you know a friend is a true friend when they say . .OK I'm going to tell you right off the bat . . don't look over the glasses. That's what old ladies do. Thank you so much. It's better to break a habit after 3 hours than 3 years. I caught myself doing it again this morning . . .grrr.

  17. Jill, I'm waiting to go for my hearing test until those fancy shmancy hearing aids come to Canada. I figure I'll continue to read lips and perfect that first and then when i REALLY need the hearing aid (as my family all thinks). . .well, then at least I'll be stylin.
oh and sorry about the song . .

  18. Lovella you're such a Diva.

When I got my glasses I had a choice between 3 pairs. THAT"S IT! Because of my thin face. I actually began trying on kids glasses because they weren't too wide on me.

  19. Lovella,
I'm tagging you for a favorite restaurant meme. If you'd like to decline please feel free. Hopefully this isn't one you've done already.

  21. The glasses look sharp. Maybe a little sassy, but after reading here for a little while, I'm thinking that might be appropriate. Anything too serious wouldn't cut it on the motorcycle! :o)

Hmm - I've actually worn glasses *forEVER* (with a break for contacts between 15 and 30), but did upgrade to trifocals this year. I think I actually broke out into a happy dance after I got them. Hand sewing had become almost an impossibility unless I did it without my glasses and perched my sewing on the end of my nose. It is such a blessing to be able to see clearly! I dreaded the trifocals for naught.

  22. Oh, I am behind the times again! Here you've had your glasses for days, and I am only reading about it now. I too am carrying a perscription around in my wallet waiting for "just the right time" to go and select some spectacles. I haven't worn glasses since I was 14, then got too proud, then at 18 purchased contacts, then at 26 had surgery. Its time.
By the way, you look very smart which just confirms the obvious!
