Palm Springs

We went to Palm Springs to warm up. We warmed up. From the moment we stepped off the plane until we stepped on the plane I knew warmth.
The snap dragons bloomed with such beautiful colors all around the town house complex. Apparently Palm Springs was hit with some frost this last winter and so there Bougainvillea was badly damaged and hardly blooming. Most times I didn't have my camera with me, I moaned and groaned when I would realize that I once again left it at the room.

Pink . . . I love pink.

For our first night we went to the Cheesecake Factory. We waited a good while to be seated on the patio but we weren't about to sit inside on such a warm and beautiful evening.

While we waited we poked around the stored. I found Terry the perfect hat.

These hats were locked behind glass so I just took one quick picture of them for Jill.

The next day it was all down to business. Reading at the pool. Terry's second book was a John Grisham that started to fall apart from the moment he cracked it open. It became the entertainment. I've read a lot of books but that was the craziest bound book I've ever seen. He thought he might need to go to Chapters to read the pages he was missing.

He was a determined man. He kept putting the pages back in and read them all in proper order.

Each couple took a turn making a yummy meal for the other couple. Scot and Kathy made us Barbecued Salmon with 3 colored Angel Hair Pasta, Roasted Mushrooms and Asparagus and Greens with Raspberry Vinaigrette. It was delicious.

Terry Barbecued Steak for our dinner. He did a fantastic job.

We switched up our side dishes just slightly by adding small roasted creamer potatoes instead of pasta.

I delighted in reading in the shade. I've finally given up tanning. I love to look tanned, I just don't like adding any more heat to my already hot and then not hot body. It's already so confused, why add to the mix? The rest of the time was divided between shopping and walking and sleeping.

We ate most of our dinners out and usually made breakfast and lunch. It was a good excuse to get up and move about for a bit.

We just relaxed. I wish there was more to tell, but there isn't. I read five books, and numerous magazines. We ate outside nearly every meal. I think that was my favorite part. Eating outside and relaxing on patios in the evening. That was a huge treat. When we got home we saw that Terrence and Bea had taken our patio set out of storage and they had it all set up. Evidence that spring is well under way.

I was just amazed at the difference in the landscape when the plane landed. When we left the forest was still without leaves and 10 days later the green was visible. When we were leaving the airport we were driving for about 10 minutes and we started to feel really hot. We asked Scot about the heat in the vehicle and he pointed to the climate control. He had it set at 90. He didn't want to end the trip until the trip was ended. We feel like we have a lot to catch up on here even though Ken did a wonderful job of taking care of the farm.
If I haven't already been back to visit your blog, I'll be around real soon. It is so good to be back. We are supposed to be getting some rain later on this morning and so I want to run out and have a walk around the farm. I always love to see what has changed in my absence. Tomorrow the farm has new arrivals . . .I'll keep you posted. Have a wonderful day my friends . . .I'm off for my 30 minute walk.

  2. Yes, welcome back! We just came back from PS a week ago as well. Isn't it a beautiful place? And so much fun to go shopping when you are relaxed! We figured out a long time ago that, especially with kids, it's the most inexpensive way to get that tropical feeling because you can drive there.
By the way, I love the outfit you're wearing in the photo where you're standing behind the tree! It's very cute on you!

  3. I'm glad you had such a good time in Palm Springs. You all looked quite relaxed. I missed reading your blog, and am glad you're back. Soon the warm weather will exist in Manitoba too (I hope) :)

  4. You did score some hats! You looked so stylish in them, of course you were drawn to the window with some of the top millinery designers on display.
Eating outside is just the best isn't it? I love eating outside whenever I am in Canada, why stay inside when the views to feed the soul are outside?
The librarian would like a book review from you...what books did you read and which do you recommend?
Currently I am recommending a Canadian Mennonite Cookbook with a catshaped book marker. So chic, so in...perhaps people WILL start saying "I'm in the mood for Canadian Mennonite food" after all!

  6. Don't you just love a vacation? We had lots of weather changes here in the last 10 days! Went from 70's to the teens! And snow on top of that! But...clear skies ahead, and warmer weather predicted!

  10. Your trip sounded lovely. The book that Terry read made me laugh because I once had an anatomy text book that was bound crazy like that. Ya, to go from bones to the eyeball in one swift turn of the page....it was a little confusing to say the least. I love the fact that you stay in the shade. I wish more people had that philosophy because being out in the sun ages people soooooooo quickly. Not to mention the cancer!!! So good on ya! That's why you don't look a day over 28! I'm all about 45 spf and shade too.
