the peony and the promise

The sun came out later in the afternoon yesterday and I went to see my peonies.
Today is the day they should bloom in all their glory and they are.

Seven years ago today...
peony garland lined the aisle when a beautiful bride walked down the aisle to marry our son.
She changed peonies forever for me.

Until that day...
they signified spring...
and for the last seven years...
they are a reminder of a promise.

all for now...

  12. Your peonies are GORGEOUS!!! Mine did so much better this year that I picked them for many bouquets (but they were accents not huge bouquets). Another 10 years and maybe we'll have bunches.....a peony garland would be spectacular at a wedding!

  19. Lovella! I was thinking of you last night when I wrote my post and, really, I think of you a lot when I go to see my peonies. :) I was thinking you had used them for a son's wedding. Thanks for sending me the link. I would have loved to see that peony garland in person! To think that the timing has to be just right! My bushes are only going to be in bloom for ONE week this year and a wedding would have to take place at the very perfect time. :) Have a good weekend!
