cold cookies

A few weeks ago I was having coffee with Auntie Wendy, my Calgary cousin Nancy. . .and my mil. We were talking about cookie exchanges amongst other things. . .and Auntie Wendy mentioned the cookies she had recently made. I had to try them, they sounded so yummy. She also said that she loves them straight from the freezer. I knew what she meant. . .I love my cookies cold too.

After lunch everyday, the refrigerator freezer gets popped open, and I look at my beloved and I say. . ."what'll you have?" He says. . ."What have you got?". . .I'll run through the current cookie list with my head cooling in the freezer. . .

I whipped up these easy chocolate peppermint candy drop cookies. . .and now. .
they have been added to the daily list.

A frozen cookie takes longer to eat .. .and therefore. . .it is a wise dietary choice.

All for now, with love .. .

  1. Good morning Lovella! These cookies really look good! Maybe I should freeze all the food in my house and then I would drop a few pounds....

  2. Ahh Lovella I had to laugh at how you stand at the freezer and ask your beloved what kind of cookie he wants..I do the same! Yes frozen cookies are amazing!

  3. Some cookies found their way in to my house yesterday with a tutoring student. I should have frozen them. In my defense--they were small cookies--

(whispers~~~have you tried frozen Milky Way bars?)

  4. We enjoy cold cookies here in Florida, too...especially in the summer heat. Doc is partial to frozen brownies and bar cookies! This recipe sounds so good.

Pssst...Willow, even better than frozen Milky Way bars is the Milky Way ice cream that we make! It's rich in taste, calories, and cost of ingredients, but it's soooo good.

  5. Oh...that sounds so familiar! Frozen cookies are a favorite after meal dessert here as well...my list of cookies available is usually pretty short though.

I'm off to check out Wendy's cookies...she hasn't shared this recipe with me.

  7. I've been away for a while so I'm late starting my Christmas baking - but have nothing on my calendar now for a few days so I'm really looking forward to a few days of Christmas music and baking!

I always feel cookies need to go through several "testing" stages - how they taste right out of the oven, just slightly cooled off, room temperature, and right out of the freezer!! If they pass all 4 they're winners!

  8. my mouth is watering...if you say its easy i'm going to take your word for it and try these! baking is not usually my forte. i always struggle with what sort of christmas cookies to bake that my picky husband will actually eat...i think he may like these!

  9. Lori...you are so funny...that's what I like to do too, but would never have admitted it...and, of course, no one in the family knows I go through such stringent testing here :)

  12. Mine are all baked too - just waiting to be iced.

    Phew I'm tired.

My mom used to freeze her butter tarts to make them last but now we all like them that way. Mmm!

  13. I agree, most cookies taste better out of the freezer. You may want to add another recipe tomorrow, as the Linzer cookies are best out of the freezer....but on the other hand the cousins have been talking on their cells. Seems like they are planning something.

  14. Yes, I saw these on Mennonite Girls Can Cook and I've already saved it on Bloglines. I now have something like 50 of your recipes saved on Bloglines. :)

I always told Stephanie (my daughter) that frozen cookies have no calories.
